Deadline is reporting that casting is underway on Hotel Mumbai, director Anthony Maras’ upcoming dramatisation of the terror attacks on the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai, India in 2008.
Dev Patel (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and Armie Hammer (The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) are in talks about joining the cast of the film, with Patel also serving as an executive producer. Also said to be in negotiations are Nazanin Boniadi (Homeland), Teresa Palmer (Triple 9), Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Game of Thrones) and Anupam Kher (Silver Linings Playbook).
The film has been written by Maras and John Collee, and is based upon the Emmy Award-nomintaed documentary Surviving Mumbai. It is one of two upcoming projects based upon the terror attacks, with Macbeth and Assassin’s Creed helmer Justin Kurzel developing an adaptation of Adrian Levy and Cathy Scott-Clark’s book The Siege: 68 Hours Inside The Taj Hotel.
