There’s good news and bad news when it comes to Amazon Prime’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith; a second season has been given the go-ahead by the streaming service, but unfortunately Donald Glover and Maya Erskine aren’t expected to return.
Prime Video announced the renewal on their social channels as part of their Upfronts presentation in New York, but made no mention of their headline duo, whose chemistry was a large reason why the show was critically acclaimed and embraced by the audience.
Variety report the Amazon declined to comment on the casting, but did make mention of the fact that Glover recently announced that he will be heading out on world tour as Childish Gambino, which begins in August and stretches on into February 2025.
Glover will still remain onboard as a co-creator and executive producer alongside Francesca Sloane, who will return as showrunner for season 2.
Should Mr. and Mrs. Smith hand over their spy pseudonyms to another pair of actors for season two, who would you like to see step into the shoes vacated by Donald Glover and Maya Erskine? Let us know by heading to our social channels @FlickeringMyth…
