Netflix has announced that 3 Body Problem, their ambitious adaptation of Liu Cixin’s sci-fi book trilogy from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss’ (Game of Thrones) has been given a second season.
It’s unclear whether this sophomore run of episodes will finish the story, with the official tweet (see below) stating that Netflix will bring this epic story through its mind-blowing conclusion, or if this is the streamer committing to multiple seasons.

Telling the complex tale of how a young woman’s fateful decision in 1960s China reverberates across space and time to a group of brilliant scientists in the present day, 3 Body Problem was released in March with mixed-to-positive reviews, and spent seven weeks in the streamer’s Top 10 TV Shows.
In a joint statement (via TUDUM), Benioff, Weiss, and co-writer Alexander Woo said “We’re thrilled that we get to tell this story through to its epic conclusion. Ever since we read the last page of Cixin Liu’s magnificent trilogy, we hoped we’d be able to bring the audience to the end of the universe with us. Here we go!”
