Will Ferrell is joining his first scripted TV comedy series as the veteran comedic actor will star in GOLF for Netflix.
In GOLF, Ferrell will play a fictional golf legend. That’s all that’s been revealed at the time of writing. The streamer stresses that GOLF should always be capitalized, but no one knows whether it’s meant to be an acronym.
The SNL and Elf actor is no stranger to sports fiction; he’s starred in Talladega Nights, Blades of Glory, and Semi-Pro. He’ll next appear in the Netflix documentary Will & Harper alongside his friend, Harper Steele.
Will Ferrell, Ramy Youssef, and Josh Rabinowitz created the scripted series, and Rian Johnson is also set to executive produce.
While Youssef will also star, details on his part are being kept under wrap, and the show is not described as a two-header between Ferrell and Youssef.
Netflix is increasingly looking to enter the sports world. In November, the streamer hosted a live stream of The Netflix Cup, a crossover with pro golfers and Formula 1 drivers. Also, in Janurary 2025, Netflix will become the new home of WWE’s Monday Night Raw.
Stay tuned for more news on GOLF and more coming to Netflix.
