Amazon’s upcoming mystery thriller series The Better Sister, starring Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks as the leads and based on Alafair Burke’s novel, has made new additions to its cast. According to Deadline, Maxwell Acee Donovan (That 90s Show) and Kim Dickens (Fear The Walking Dead) have gained series regular roles for the thriller.
The Better Sister meditates on the terrible things that drive sisters apart and ultimately bring them back together. Biel leads the cast as Chloe, who moves through the world with her handsome lawyer husband Adam and teenage son Ethan by her side while her estranged sister Nicky (Banks) struggles to stay clean and hustles to make ends meet. When Adam is brutally murdered, the prime suspect sends shockwaves through the family, laying bare long-buried secrets.
Also starring in the cast is Corey Stoll (House of Cards) as Adam and Bobby Naderi (The Beekeeper) as Matt Bowen, the partner to Dickens’ detective.
Donovan will play “Ethan, 17, who adores his loving mother Chloe (Biel) and has a complicated relationship with his overachieving, overbearing father, Adam (Stoll). When he’s swept up in a family tragedy, his mother can no longer protect him, and he’s forced to face his fears head on.”
Dickens will portray Nancy Guidry, “a detective investigating Adam’s (Stoll) murder, Guidry sees more than anyone else in the room, and isn’t afraid to tell you all about it.”
The Better Sister is developed by Olivia Milch and Regina Corrado, who will showrun and executive produce the series with Milch having written the pilot episode. Directing is Craig Gillespie (Cruella) who will also serve as an executive producer alongside Biel and Banks while Burke is listed as a consultant.
