The Yellowstone prequel 1923 has added a new member to its cast. According to Deadline, Dexter veteran Jennifer Carpenter has joined the series for its second season.
1923 stars Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as Jacob and Cara Dutton, the great-great-great uncle and aunt to Kevin Costner’s John Dutton in Yellowstone. The series follows them as they try to maintain their land and control of the area in a post-war America that is beset by pandemics, droughts, Prohibition and the beginnings of the Great Depression.
Carpenter will portray Mamie Fossett, “a highly capable U.S. Deputy Marshall who serves warrants and makes arrests with confidence ahead of her time.”
1923 also stars Brandon Sklenar, Aminah Nieves, Brian Geraghty, Sebastian Roche, Jennifer Ehle, Marley Shelton, Robert Patrick, Jerome Flynn and Timothy Dalton.
The second season comes as the Yellowstone franchise is getting ready to wind down its flagship series and expand on more spin-offs as well as a sequel series. There also continues to be developments with Yellowstone‘s final season as Kevin Costner has signalled he’s willing to come back for the final episodes after leaving to direct his two-part Western epic Horizon, both of which will be released this summer.
1923 season two will begin production this fall.
