Inside Out 2 has become a smash hit for Disney/Pixar in just two weeks. With its short run at the box office, the film has become the year’s highest-grossing movie, surpassing the fan-favorite Dune: Part Two.
With 2024 needing a boost, Hollywood is celebrating this as a win. Inside Out 2 dropped a wildly impressive 35% in its second weekend, bringing in $100 million. That is the best-ever second weekend, behind The Avengers ($103M) and ahead of last year’s Barbie ($93M).
Disney and Pixar’s sequel has generated $355 million in North America and $724 million globally. That puts it above the Denis Villeneuve sequel, which brought in $282 million domestically and $711 million worldwide. The animated film still has one primary market, Japan, which will open the film this August.
