Pennywise has new friends as HBO is padding its cast for the IT prequel. Welcome To Derry will see the return of Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise, and Deadline has all the new Derry residents we must meet.
The additions include Alixandra Fuchs (Hatfields & McCoys), Kimberly Guerrero (The English), Dorian Grey (Star Trek: Discovery), Thomas Mitchell (Gangland Undercover), BJ Harrison (Family Law, Maid), Peter Outerbridge (Batwoman), Shane Marriott (Fargo), Chad Rook (Joe Pickett, Billy the Kid), Joshua Odjick (Little Bird, Wildhood) and Morningstar Angeline (Echo). Much like the plot for the series, their roles remain a mystery.
As well as reprising the role of Pennywise, Skarsgård will also executive produce. Joining him on the creative side are Andy Muschietti, producer Barbara Muschietti, and IT: Chapter Two co-producer Jason Fuchs, who developed the TV adaptation together with the films’ other producers, Roy Lee and Dan Lin.
The series, still using its working title of Welcome To Derry, expands the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films and will reportedly draw from Stephen King’s wild work as well.
Muschietti’s work in the IT franchise can not be undervalued. He brought the story to a new generation and helped the two films earn an impressive combined $1.17 billion worldwide. Muschietti will direct four episodes of the nine-episode series.
