Supernatural multiplayer survival Once Human arrives on PC

July 11, 2024 by Andrew Newton

NetEase Games and Starry Studio have announced the release of their free to play post-apocalyptic open world survival game, Once Human, on PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and the official website. Once Human became the most played demo of the event of the latest Steam Next Fest and the full release includes lots of features that weren’t included in the demo.

In Once Human, a strange extraterrestrial substance known as Stardust has contaminated Earth and transformed all life into a twisted nightmare of its former self.  Strange abominations and apocalyptic horrors await those who feel brave enough to play.

Players take the role of a Meta, a survivor with an immunity to this alien substance, and will be able to wander this post-apocalyptic setting alone or join forces with other players.  As players explore this new world and attempt to uncover the truth behind the apocalyptic horrors, they will travel through five different regions, face five factions and over 100 Strongholds.  Among the 50+ deviant creatures that will be encountered are the Wanderer, a walking bus roaming the land and the flying beast known as the Ancient One.

As well as the strange and often hostile creatures, players will also have to contend with defending themselves from other players. To help protect hard-earned treasures it will be possible to build sanctuaries anywhere in the wilderness and defend them with an arsenal of defensive weaponry.

This SCP Foundation/ Lovecraft inspired world also features a new PvP mode that offers special reward-vehicles that provide valuable loot.  However, the area surrounding each vehicle will enable PvP and caution is advised when near other players looking to loot the same vehicle.

Once Human is free-to-play and available on Steam, Epic Games Store and the official website now.
