According to The Wrap, Jessica Chastain has been offered the lead role in Molly’s Game, the upcoming directorial debut of Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin (The Social Network, Steve Jobs).
The site reports that Chastain is yet to enter negotiations, having recently set up her own production company, but is said to be eager to star in the film, which is based upon the memoir of Molly Bloom, a former world-class skier who moved to Los Angeles after failing to make the cut for the Olympics and ultimately wound up running high-stakes poker games for the Hollywood elite before being brought down by the FBI.
Chastain has just started shooting the gun control drama Miss Sloane, and will be seen this year in The Huntsman: Winter’s War and The Zookeeper’s Wife. She also has several other projects on her slate, including The Death of Life of John F. Donovan, No Show Jones and Woman Walks Ahead.
