Amazon’s upcoming series adaptation of Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips’ graphic novels Criminal has rounded out its cast with several new additions per Deadline. Joining the crime drama are Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), Chris Diamantopoulos (The Boys in the Boat), Lawrence Kao (Walker: Independence), Kyle Bradley Davis (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Aina Brei’yon (Dark Matter), Robert Lee Hart (Chicago PD), Katie Stevens (The Bold Type) and John Pyper-Ferguson (Suits).
Criminal follows “an inter-generational story of families connected through shared criminal history.” The graphic novel series won several Eisner Awards for its artwork and story and is considered some of the best of Brubaker’s work in his comic writing career.
The new cast members will have recurring roles in the series while their characters are being kept under wraps. The join an already impressive ensemble that includes Emilia Clarke, Luke Evans, Gus Halper, Charlie Hunnam, Richard Jenkins, John Hawkes, Adria Arjona, Logan Browning, Kadeem Hardison, Pat Healy, Taylor Sele, Aliyah Camacho, Michael Mando, Marvin Jones III, Michael Xavier and Dominic Burgess.
Brubaker and Jordan Harper (Hightown) will serve as showrunners with Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden (Captain Marvel) directing the first four episodes. Brubaker and Harper will also produce with Phillips, Sarah Carbiener and Philipp Barnett. Amazon MGM is producing the series with Legendary TV executive producing.
Criminal is currently in production and is expected to wrap next month.
