Rebellion has revived an old classic from the days of the Amiga, much to the joy of us veteran gamers, and released Speedball on Steam Early Access. Even now, there’s many a gamer recalling shouts of “Ice Cream” from the crowd as this new entry into the legendary Bitmap Brothers series reaches a new generation of gamers. Watch the new Early Access Launch trailer below…
Speedball (and it’s much improved sequel Speedball 2) is a game often spoken of reverently by veterans due to its fast-paced action, its brutality and its ability for players to organise their team to take advantage of its strengths, and this latest title looks to carry on that legacy.
But what is Speedball I hear you ask? Speedball is a no-holds-barred futuresport that was once reviled but now used by mega-corporations to distract the population from a world of drudgery. It’s a sport where cybernetically augmented teams compete using inhuman speed and violence.
Players can once more take to the arena and take part in fast-paced, explosive and unpredictable matches, where one wrong move can result in a lost point and a dead team member. Players will need to organise their team positions based on their strengths, weakness and cybernetic enhancements and then master the high speed passing, coordination and shooting during the matches.
Featuring:
- Unpredictably fast-paced matches.
- A wide range of teams and arenas.
- Arena specific obstacles and abilities that can provide the upper hand.
- Arcade style matches and sports management strategy.
- Create a team to match your preferred playstyle.
- Master skills against the AI and then compete online or against a friend locally.
Over the coming 12 months, Rebellion will include a host of new content and features, including team management and draft system, player and manager progression, Career Mode, skill-based matchmaking and leaderboards, new cosmetics, skins and arenas and more.
Don’t miss out on the action of one of the greatest future sports franchises ever, head over to Steam now and purchase Speedball.
