Deadline reports Darren Lynn Bousman’s upcoming horror feature The Monster has just added Mia Healey (The Wilds) opposite Djimon Hounsou (Gladiator) and Lauren LaVera (The Life of Chuck).
The Monster follows “two millennials who make quick money by leasing incredible New York City apartments they don’t own to people who don’t know they are being scammed. The con works brilliantly until they run into an apartment owner with a dark secret who flips the game on them.”
Healey is most known her role in the Amazon Prime series The Wilds as Shelby. She will be next seen in the TV series Motorheads. LaVera has starred in the Terrifier films and most recently starred alongside Tom Hiddelston in Mike Flanagan’s Stephen King adaptation The Life of Chuck, which premiered at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival and will be gaining a wide release next year.
Hounsou is a well-known and two-time Oscar nominated actor for his work in Blood Diamond and In America. He is also known for Gladiator, Furious 7, The Island, Shazam!, Guardians of the Galaxy and recently starred in Zack Snyder’s two-part Rebel Moon and the sci-fi horror prequel A Quiet Place: Day One.
Bousman will direct The Monster based on a script by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer (Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane). The film is produced by Lee Nelson and David Tish of Envision Media Arts (The Ice Road) alongside Saw franchise producer Mark Burg. Filming begins this month.
