Kevin Bacon leads Kyra Sedgwick and Sosie Bacon into a killer Family Movie

November 5, 2024 by EJ Moreno

Working with your family in any industry could be killer, but what about making a family-filled horror comedy? Hollywood husband and duo Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick know a good scare, and they’ll put that knowledge to good use with their latest project, Family Movie.

Variety confirms that Bacon and Sedgwick will direct a new horror comedy featuring their kids, Travis and Sosie Bacon. The directing duo will also star. Per the outlet, the filmmaker family will produce under Mixed Breed Films alongside Norman Golightly at Dark Castle Entertainment.

Family Movie follows “an eclectic but tight-knit family of filmmakers who suddenly find themselves in a real-life horror movie when a body turns up on the set of their latest low-budget slasher. As the production spirals comically out of control, they realize the only solution to keep filming is to cover up the murder by any means necessary.” The film is based on a screenplay by Dan Beers (Premature).

Kevin Bacon famously began his career with horror, starring in the original Friday The 13th. Since then, he’s been in horror films like Tremors, Hollow Man, and this year’s MaXXXine. Kyra Sedgwick is best known for the series The Closer, but horror fans may know her from The Possession. As for Sosie Bacon, she helped lead one of the most memorable modern horror films, Smile, which just saw a sequel this year.

“There may not be a more compelling Hollywood family than the Bacons,” Dark Castle co-CEO Norman Golightly said in a statement. “We can’t wait to bring their unique dynamic to the screen and then wildly turn it on its head for audiences.”

Stay tuned for more news on this horror outing, Family Movie.
