Another production from James Gunn’s upcoming new DC Universe has finished filming as the director has announced through social media that season 2 of Peacemaker has wrapped production.
Peacemaker stars John Cena reprising his role from Gunn’s The Suicide Squad as he assembles his own team and attempts to become a real hero after his shady and immoral government work. Reprising their roles from both The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker season one alongside Cena are Steve Agee, Danielle Brooks, Freddie Stroma and Jennifer Holland.
Gunn made the announcement on Bluesky and his other social platforms, saying “Thanks to our entire cast & crew who made this a wonderful experience. My relief to have a break from shooting after ten months straight is countered by how much I’ll miss all of you!”
And that is a WRAP on #Peacemaker season 2, including our last remaining actors Steve Agee, Tim Meadows, Sol Rodriguez & Brandon Stanley (& our DP Sam McCurdy pictured here moments after the last shot.)

Gunn has been quite busy in the DC Universe as he and his DC Studios partner Peter Safran plot out upcoming films and TV series in their new continuity. Earlier this year Gunn wrapped production on Superman, a film he also wrote which will star David Corenswet as Superman and lead the relaunch of DC films. He also created and wrote the animated series Creature Commandos, which will be the first new series under the DC Studios banner and will premiere on Max next month.
Peacemaker season 2 will premiere on Max in August 2025.
