Watson trailer teases Dr. Watson’s next chapter after the death of Sherlock Holmes

November 27, 2024 by Ricky Church

CBS has released the first trailer for Watson, a new chapter of Dr. John Watson’s life in the aftermath of Sherlock Holmes’ death in this new modern reimagining of the classic Sherlock Holmes stories.

The series stars Morris Chestnut as Watson, who returns full time to his life as a doctor months after Sherlock perished during his fatal encounter with the criminal mastermind Professor Moriarty. The series will be a medical drama with a big focus on investigation after Watson becomes the head of a clinic studying rare diseases, but he isn’t quite done with his old life just yet.

Starring alongside Chestnut are Eve Harlow, Peter Mark Kendall, Ritchie Coster, Inga Schlingmann and Rochelle Aytes. Watch the trailer below…

“Watson takes place six months after the death of the titular character’s friend and partner Sherlock Holmes at the hands of Moriarty. The show follows Dr. John Watson, who resumes his medical career as the head of a clinic dedicated to treating rare disorders. Watson’s old life isn’t done with him, though – Moriarty and Watson are set to write their own chapter of a story that has fascinated audiences for more than a century.”

Watson was created by Craig Sweeny, who will executive produce with Chestnut. Sweeny has worked previously in the world of Sherlock with the modern day series Elementary, which saw Sherlock working in New York City as a consultant with Dr. Joan Watson as his AA sponsor before becoming his partner, roommate and friend. Despite Sweeney’s involvement, Watson is an entirely separate series from Elementary.

Watson will premiere on January 26th, 2025.
