Disaster series La Palma gets a trailer and images from Netflix

November 30, 2024 by Amie Cranswick

Netflix has shared a trailer and images for La Palma, the upcoming disaster drama series from director Kasper Barfoed.

The series centres on a Norwegian family on vacation in La Palma where a young researcher discovers signs of an imminent volcanic eruption on the island which could cause the largest tsunami the world has ever seen, leading the family to a terrifying fight for their lives.

The cast includes Anders Baasmo, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Thea Sofie Loch Næss, Thorbjørn Harr, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, Johannes Joner, Jorge de Juan, Iselin Shumba, and Amund Harboe.

Millions of Scandinavians travel to the Canary Islands every year. It’s Christmas and high season when a Norwegian family checks into their favorite hotel on the island of La Palma. But beneath the idyll, a danger lurks. A young Norwegian scientist discovers alarming signs about the volcano located in the center of the holiday paradise. She must convince her colleagues that the worst-case scenario is about to happen. If the volcano erupts, a mountain mass the size of Manhattan might erupt into the sea and cause the largest tsunami the world has ever seen. Will the family manage to escape the disaster of ash, gas and lava in a fight for their lives?

La Palma arrives on Netflix on December 12th.
