During the recent PC Gaming Show, Nightdive Studios announced the release of The Thing: Remastered on PC and consoles. This faithful HD remastering of the classic 2002 third-person survival horror shooter inspired by Universal Pictures’ 1982 film, The Thing, brings up to a 4K resolution at 120FPS, improvements to character models and much more. Watch the new launch trailer below to see more of this remastered classic…
The Thing: Remastered takes players to the frozen arctic tundra where they will take on the role of Captain J.F. Blake, leader of the US Special Forces rescue team. Arriving at the ruined U.S. Outpost #31 research facility, players will need to investigate the events that happened in the original film and the mysterious shape-shifting alien. It is up to players to also keep their squad alive by gaining their trust.
This remastering features:
- 3D rendering for updated lighting and atmospheric effects.
- Up to a 4K resolution at 120 FPS and improvements to character models, textures and animations.
- Command a squad of four NPCs through the game’s eleven levels.
- Keep a watchful eye on the other troops as they may not be who they seem.
- Face terrifying creatures, from human-like walkers to giant multi-tentacled level bosses.
“In keeping true to the spirit of one of the most iconic alien organisms in pop culture, The Thing: Remastered has emerged when you’d have least expected it” said Larry Kuperman, Nightdive Studios’ Director of Business Development. “For the whole Nightdive crew, it has been an honour working with Universal and members of the original development team to not only remaster The Thing video game but deliver on the original vision for the game. We hope fans worldwide enjoy their return to Outpost #31”
The Thing: Remastered is available now on Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, Series X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam and GOG.
