With The Stone of Madness, travel to an old Jesuit monastery that serves as both a madhouse and an inquisitorial prison to the Spanish authorities. This old building is currently home to five mysterious characters that have been imprisoned under different pretenses and receive cruel punishments from the guards. This cruel treatment by merciless guards, along with the madness and despair of the other evil inhabitants leads to these five planning an escape. It is up to players to help facilitate this escape.
Players will need to control all five characters independently to help them escape, but will have to be mindful in preserving each member’s sanity. Explore the rooms and corridors of the old monastery to discover hints on escaping or tools to help progress and ensure they stay away from the Inquisition’s guards. Nobody expects the Spanish Inquisition.
The Stone of Madness features:
- Manage each character’s madness – Each have their own traumas and phobias which contribute to their level of madness. Not keeping an eye on this can result in new negative traits, including paranoia, dementia, or bouts of violence.
- Choose from two different escape plans with both featuring unique stories, objectives and surprises.
- A day and night cycle that separates daytime actions and nighttime preparations. This allows the prisoners time to rest in the evenings and avoid leaving their cells at night, those who venture out at night will soon find out why these corridors are eerily silent.
- A stunning hand-painted art style heavily inspired by 18th-century artist Francisco De Goya, with an isometric perspective to help players explore scenes as though adventuring through a Goya painting.
