Harness the wind and survive in Aloft

January 16, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Aloft, the new feel-good sandbox survival game from Funcom and Astrolabe Interactive, is now available on Early Access.  This new title challenges players to harness the power of the wind, explore the skies, restore the shattered ecosystem and survive. Watch the new trailer below….

Aloft takes place in a world of floating islands shaped by the wind, where players can choose a floating island and call it home.  Players can transform their island home into a flying ship and float over three full biomes, with more biomes set to arrive during the early access phase. These floating islands can be equipped with a helm, rudder and sails as well as with all the necessities that make a place a home. Plus there are various machines to be built and windmills that can power them.  Besides enjoying the experience in single player, players can also join up to 7 others and create a small village of explorers.

Despite the beauty of this floating world, a fungus spreads corrupting and devouring all it comes into contact with.  Players will need to root out this fungus and defeat the mushroom creatures in combat to preserve the beautiful world and restore the balance to the airborne ecosystem.

As players explore, they can discover new islands, uncover lost, ancient knowledge and gather resources that can be used to help craft tools, brew powerful potions and gather seeds to help replenish islands damaged by the fungus.  Animals will also require antidotes when harmed by this growing corruption.

Aloft’s early access is going to be a busy one with plenty of additional features arriving. Be among the first to explore this new floating world by downloading the game now.
