Paramount has filled out its cast for Children of Blood and Bone, the upcoming adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s fantasy novel, which is being directed by filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood (The Woman King).
Children of Blood and Bone an African fantasy kingdom where a young woman and her brother seek to reclaim the magic that was violently stolen from their people by a vicious king.
Leading the film will be Thuso Mbedu (The Woman King), Amandla Stenberg (The Acolyte), Damson Idris (Snowfall) and Tosin Cole (Supacell). They will play Zelie, Amari, Inan and Tzain respectively.
Also starring in the film will be Viola Davis (Widows), Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Idris Elba (Sonic The Hedgehog 3), Lashana Lynch (No Time To Die) and Chiwetel Ejiofor (The Life of Chuck). In talks for the film are also Regina King (Watchmen), Diaana Babnicova (Kraven The Hunter) and Bukky Bakray (The Strays).
“I am so honored and excited to bring Tomi’s Children of Blood and Bone and the vibrant world of Orisha to life,” Prince-Bythewood said. “Our incredible ensemble reflects the whole of the diaspora. This is where our magic lies.”
Filming will take place in South Africa for a January 15th, 2027 release.
