Eddie Murphy is set for another dose of spy games by signing up to star in Sony Pictures action-comedy Blue Falcon.
According to Deadline, Murphy, who was last seen in Netflix’s surprisingly good sequel Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, will play a retired super-spy who travels to the destination wedding of his estranged son, only to be confronted by his arch rival. The script has been written by London is Falling and Peppermint scribe Chad St. John.
The legendary comedic actor last attempted to wring laughs from the world of espionage with 2002 stinker I Spy, in which he starred alongside Owen Wilson and Famke Janssen. The $70 million budgeted film stiffed at the box-office, recouping just $60.3 million worldwide.
Described as an action-comedy two-hander, you can expect Sony to be tapping up other big names to play Murphy’s nemesis in Blue Falcon.
