Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 releases Datavault update

February 6, 2025 by Andrew Newton

Saber Interactive and Focus Entertainment have released a new update for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.  Titled ‘Datavault’ this update brings plenty of free content and much-requested quality-of-life improvements, plus there’s even more cosmetics for Season Pass owners.  Watch the new update video below…

The main addition with the Datavault update is the Datavault itself. This brand-new Battle Barge chamber is where the Tech-Priests collect and store all information on the many enemies of the Imperium.  As players complete Ordeals, they will accumulate Research Data that can be traded in at the Datavault for Requisition Points and new cosmetics like pauldron markings, weapon skins and even new armour pieces.  This new chamber can be accessed through the Armoury.

There’s a new PvP map to battle over in Eternal War mode and this one takes players to the Necron-themed ‘Tomb’ map. There’s a very distinct look to a Necron tomb and this map captures the details and mood of this malevolent race.

Operations Mode players will need to keep a watchful eye out for the new Tyranid Biovore.  This deadly Majoris enemy is able to deal great damage to targets up close and far away. Like all Tyranids, players will need to be careful of their razor-sharp claws.

For Season Pass owners, there are the new Raven Guard Cosmetic Pack and the Salamanders Champion Pack.  The Raven Guard features the iconic, fan-favorite Mark VI ‘Corvus’ helmet (also known to Warhammer 40k fans as ‘Beakie’ and the ‘Womble Helm’), and over 40 cosmetics representing their Successor Chapters.  The new Salamander Champion skin is for the Sniper class and features an exclusive Bolt Sniper Rifle skin.

Datavault also brings the sixth and final difficulty setting, called ‘Absolute’. A fitting name for a difficulty level that will challenge even the most veteran of marines.  Quality-of-life improvements, including the addition of an opt-in/opt-out Crossplay feature in PvP matches, an FOV slider on PC and a ‘Currency Exchange’, allowing players to trade Armoury Data for rarer tiers.

Jump back into Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 and help smite the enemies of the Imperium.
