After last week’s casting of Leighton Meester and Miles Fowler in the hit Netflix romcom series Nobody Wants This, Deadline reports Arian Moayed (Succession) and Alex Karpovsky (Girls) are joining the show for its second season.
Nobody Want This follows Kristen Bell and Adam Brody’s Joanne and Noah, a pair of adults who begin an unlikely romance despite their differing views on life and religion as well as family who try to break them up.
Moayed will star as Moayed will play Dr. Andy, “a charming, highly regarded (particularly by himself) psychotherapist who might just be the perfect match for Joanne’s sister Morgan.”
Karpovsky, meanwhile, will play Big Noah, a work rival to Noah who is “an overly confident rabbi” at their temple.
The series premiered on Netflix last September and was quickly renewed after its success with both critics and viewers. For his performance as Noah, Brody won the Critics Choice Award for Best Actor in a comedy series.
Nobody Wants This was created by Erin Foster, who also served as showrunner for the first season but is taking a step back for season two where she will remain an executive producer. The upcoming season will be showrun by Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, both of whom will also executive produce.
Will they? Won’t they? Should they? An agnostic podcast host and an unconventional rabbi on the rebound walk into a party. When they walk out — together — the unlikely pair, Joanne (Kristen Bell) and Noah (Adam Brody), can tell there is something between them. But also potentially between them, with their differing outlooks on life, all of the modern obstacles to love, and their sometimes well-meaning, sometimes sabotaging families — including her sister Morgan (Justine Lupe) and his brother Sasha (Timothy Simons).
Nobody Wants This features Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Justine Lupe, Timothy Simons with Jackie Tohn upped to a series regular role for the second season alongside new additions Leighton Meester, Miles Fowler, Arian Moayed and Alex Karpovsky.
