Daisy Ridley confirms Tomb Raider talks

Earlier this month it was reported that Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley is wanted for the role of Lara Croft in the long-gestating Tomb Raider reboot, and now the actress has confirmed that she has had talks about portraying the iconic video game character.

“There have been conversations,” Ridley told THR at the Empire Awards last night. “I’m waiting for someone to say ‘I want you, let’s do it’.”

Ridley’s Star Wars co-star John Boyega also voiced his support for her in the role, adding that: ” played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version. But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be.”

Ridley is currently reprising the role of Rey for Star Wars: Episode VIII, which is in production now ahead of a release on December 15th 2017.
