One of the many projects on the horizon in the X-Men cinematic universe, along with Deadpool 2 and Wolverine 3, is New Mutants, a film adaptation of Chris Claremont and Bob McLeod’s comic book series of the same name. Last year, Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) was hired to not only helm but also write the project, and since completing the first draft of the film’s screenplay in October, official details on the project have been few and far between. Not more than a couple of weeks ago, rumours emerged that newcomers Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) and Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch) signed on to the X-Men spinoff as Rahne Sinclair/Wolfsbane and Rasputin/Magik, respectively. It was also suggested that series regular James McAvoy (Professor X) and Alexandra Shipp (Storm), who is joining the franchise in this summer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, would join the two actresses, but shortly after that report was published by HitFix, 20th Century Fox denied the rumours through Nerdist.
As per usual with X-Men films, Simon Kinberg and Lauren Shuler Donner are on board to produce New Mutants.
