Limitless TV series cancelled

May 26, 2016 by Ricky Church

Despite the rumour that the Limitless television series was being shopped around to other networks, it is now confirmed the freshman series has been cancelled. Writer and producer Craig Sweeney took to Twitter to announce the news, saying “I’m truly sad to report #Limitless will not continue on any platform. Thanks so much to everyone who watched.”

The series was a semi-sequel to 2011’s Limitless feature film starring Bradley Cooper, but followed the adventures of Brian Finch, played by Jake McDorman, who discovered the NZT drug that heightens intelligence to a very large degree. Finch was co-opted into the FBI and works with Rebecca Harris, played by Dexter’s Jennifer Carpenter, to work on some of their toughest cases while uncovering the mystery of NZT and its connection to Senator Edward Morra. Cooper reprised his role as Morra in four episodes of the season and was also an executive producer on the series.

Limitless started with a fairly strong audience, but it grew smaller as the season went on. Despite not being officially picked up for second season, a report by CBS said they were looking for another network, or even Netflix or Amazon, to air it while they would still help produce and finance the show, making this announcement somewhat surprising.
