According to Deadline, Lionsgate is looking to cast Chris Evans in the lead role of Tom Jackman in a big screen adaptation of the BBC One series Jekyll, which is being produced by Ellen DeGeneres and Jeff Kleeman.
The six-part Jekyll was written by Steven Moffat and aired on BBC One in 2007; described as a sequel to Robert Louis Stevenson’s Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, it started James Nesbitt as Jackman, a modern-day descendant of Dr. Jekyll, who finds himself transforming into a version of the sinister Mr. Hyde.
Jekyll isn’t the only Jekyll and Hyde related project on the horizon, with Russell Crowe set to take on the dual roles in Universal Pictures Monster universe, beginning with a role in next year’s Tom Cruise-headlined The Mummy.
