Rambo reboot Rambo: New Blood in development without Sylvester Stallone

October 28, 2016 by Gary Collinson

If you were hoping to see Sylvester Stallone reprising the role of John J. Rambo one last time, then it appears you may be out of luck as THR is reporting that Nu Image and Millennium Films are in development on a reboot of the action franchise.

Titled Rambo: New Blood, the reboot is set to be directed by Ariel Vromen (Criminal) from a script by Brooks McLaren (Line of Sight), and will see a younger actor taking over the iconic role a la James Bond, with Stallone not involved in any capacity.

There has been talk for a good few years now that Stallone would return for Rambo V (which at one point could have seen Rambo on the hunt for a genetically-engineered creature/beast), while a TV project – also titled Rambo: New Blood – was announced last December, but quickly fell apart when it was revealed that Stallone had ruled out his involvement.

Are you excited about the prospect of a Rambo reboot? Who could you see taking over the role? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below…
