Jennifer Connelly joins Alita: Battle Angel

THR is reporting that Jennifer Connelly has joined the cast of Alita: Battle Angel, the upcoming manga adaptation from director Robert Rodriguez and producer James Cameron.

Based on the Battle Angel Alita series of graphic novels, the film follows an amnesiac cyborg (Rosa Salazar) who is discovered by a scientist (Christoph Waltz) in a junk yard. With no knowledge of her previous life, but possessing deadly martial arts skills, she becomes a bounty hunter, tracking down criminals.

Connelly is set to play one of the villains in the film, and joins a cast that also includes Keean Johnson (Nashville), Jackie Earle Haley (Preacher), Ed Skrein (Deadpool), Eiza Gonzalez (From Dusk Till Dawn), Mahershala Ali (Luke Cage), Lana Condor (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. (Spider-Man: Homecoming).

Alita: Battle Angel is in production now, and is slated for release on July 20th 2018.
