20th Century Fox has tapped Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen of 21 Laps to produce a big screen adaptation of Raymond Villareal’s A People’s History of the Vampire Uprising, which is being pitched as “World War Z with vampires.”
THR reports that the book is a “fictitious oral history of the appearance, assimilation and ultimately epic, violent confrontation of vampires (who now prefer being called the Gloamings) with the human race.”
Similar to Max Brooks World War Z novel, A People’s History of the Vampire Uprising is told through multiple points of view including a CDC investigator who discovers a mysterious virus, an FBI agent who forms the first Gloaming Crimes Unit, a civil rights attorney’s analysis of the Gloaming Equal Rights Act, an obsessive Vatican librarian, a celebrity gossip site, and a theological magazine.
Levy and Cohen’s 21 Laps recently produced the Oscar-nominated Arrival, and is currently in production on the second season of Stranger Things. Last month it also set up an adaptation of the award-winning sci-fi short story Inconstant Moon.
