Possible Spoilers: Wonder Woman plot leaked online with possible cameos and tone – but is it any good?

February 23, 2017 by admin

Warning: possible spoilers below…

Over the weekend, Warner Bros and DC Films held a test screening of their upcoming superhero movie Wonder Woman which received very positive reactions. And although each audience member signed a strict NDA, someone broke that and took to the Internet to leak the plot details. The folks over at Midnight’s Edge broke this down and claim there is some validity in the below plot synopsis – and believe there is some truth behind the idea that Warner Bros. allowed these details to be leaked in order to generate positive press. So, these could be potential spoilers – but take them with a pinch of salt for now.

Again, spoilers below:

The movie will have a framing device of Wonder Woman in Paris emailing Bruce Wayne, who is asking her to join the Justice League. In this email exchange, Diana recounts her past and meeting her first love, Steve Trevor, and how she ended up fighting in World War I, a war that was caused by Ares. This is how he will serve as the film’s main antagonist (as revealed over the weekend). By the end of the movie, she tells Bruce that she has re-found her faith in humanity after losing Trevor and fighting in the war, and that she is willing to join him in the Justice League and help find other Meta Humans. There was no word on whether Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne appears in the movie, or whether he is just in email form (it should be noted however that Affleck was rumoured to appear way back in October 2015).

According to the leakers, Wonder Woman is “dark” but also “good, if not great”. The other interesting thing of note from the leak is that it says Wonder Woman is not “disjointed” as had been previously rumoured. That’s not to say it wasn’t before this screening, as Midnight’s Edge point out their own sources agreed the film was a mess, but “a salvageable mess” and they’ve managed to find a “good movie” inside those early rough cuts.

Midnight’s Edge’s sources also say that Justice League is still a mess but, like Wonder Woman, it’s a salvageable mess.

Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.

Wonder Woman will hit cinemas on June 2nd, 2017 with a cast that includes Gal Gadot (Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice), Chris Pine (Star Trek), Connie Nielsen (Gladiator), Robin Wright (House of Cards), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), David Thewlis (The Theory of Everything), Ewen Bremner (Snowpiercer), Said Taghmaoui (American Hustle), Elena Anaya (The Skin I Live In), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Force Majeure) and Lucy Davis (Shaun of the Dead).
