Amazon has purchased the US distribution rights to the film Annette which will star actor Adam Driver and singer Rihanna.
Annette recently had actress Rooney Mara attached, only for her to leave the project because of other commitments. The search is on for a new female lead but has managed to acquire the services of Star Wars’ Adam Driver and global pop star Rihanna.
Variety has learned that Amazon has acquired the United States distribution rights for the movie, which is to be a music filled drama by French director Leos Carax. Annette will be Carax’s English language debut.
Annette will begin filming this spring in Los Angeles and is being produced by Bruno Pesery via his Paris-based production company Arena Films.
Director Carax’s credits Boy Meet Girl, Mauvais Sang, Les Amants du Pont Neuf, and Holy Motors.
