Alcon developing animated Darkmouth movie

March 16, 2017 by Amie Cranswick

Alcon Entertainment is set to dip its toes into the world of animation, tapping Disney Animation and Pixar veterans David Pimental and Douglas Sweetland to direct an adaptation of Shane Hegarty’s children’s book series Darkmouth.

THR reports that the project is described as “a comedic animated fantasy centering on an overeager kid who bites off more than he can chew when he prematurely jumps into the family business: hunting monsters.”

Pimental’s previous credits include head of story on Moana and story artist on Big Hero 6 and How to Train Your Dragon, while Sweetland co-directed Storks and also worked as an animator on Cars, The Incredibles and Toy Story.

Alcon co-CEOs Broderick Johnson and Andrew Kosove are producing Darkmouth along with Simon Brooks (Love, Rosie), Kira Davis (Prisoners) and Craig Peck (Chalk).
