Netflix to explore the second coming of Jesus with Messiah series

March 26, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Deadline is reporting that Netflix is set to explore the second coming of Christ with a present-day Jesus drama series entitled Messiah, which is being produced by Mark Burnett and Roma Downey (The Bible), with Michael Petroni (The Book Thief) scripting.

The series is currently in the development stage, and will chronicle the modern world’s reaction to a man who first appears in the Middle East and seems to be performing miracles. Filming is expected to take place in Los Angeles.

Messiah is the latest faith-based project from Burnett and Downey, whose previous efforts include The Bible and its sequel A.D.: The Bible Continues. They have also recently launched Light TV, a 24-hour faith and family entertainment network in partnership with MGM and Fox.
