Netflix picks up revenge thriller Apostle from The Raid director

March 30, 2017 by Samuel Brace

Netflix has managed to acquire the rights to the Gareth Evans revenge thriller Apostle.

Evans, who is the writer and director of the film, and is mostly known for his work on the The Raid movies, is set to start filming on his new project, Apostle, this April.

According to Deadline, the movie, which follows a man who travels to a remote island to rescue his sister from the cult which has kidnapped her, will star Dan Stevens, Michael Sheen, Lucy Boynton, Bill Millner, and Kristine Froseth.

Evans will also be producing the flick along with Aram Tertzakian and Ed Talfan. Netflix have captured the global distribution rights for the thriller which as yet has no planned release date.

Fans can surely expect more of Evans’ high octane, adrenaline fuelled action with a signicant amount of gore thrown in for good measure.

Dan Stevens can currently be seen starring in FX’s X-Men TV series Legion, which has been renewed for a second season ahead of its season finale on the 29th of March. He is also starring alongside Emma Watson in Disney’s blockbuster Beauty and the Beast.
