Deadpool 2 director promises more action

April 1, 2017 by Gary Collinson

As development continues on Deadpool 2, new director David Leitch has been chatting to Empire about the hotly-anticipated sequel, stating that he plans ramping up the action from its predecessor.

“There’s more action in this film. I hope we can expand it and make it interesting in an 87Eleven kinda way,” said Leitch, referring to the action choreography company he runs with John Wick co-director Chad Stahelski.

However, don’t expect a major tonal shift from what Tim Miller brought to the first movie, as Leitch went on to state that: “The completely irreverent tone was the thing that won me over about the first Deadpool movie. I want to deliver on what they did and at the same time hopefully expand the universe.”

Deadpool 2 is expected to go into production in the next few months, with Zazie Beetz (Atlanta) joining the cast as Domino alongside the returning Ryan Reynolds (Wade Wilson),  Brianna Hildebrand (Negasonic Teenage Warhead), Stefan Kapicic (Colossus) and Karan Soni (Dopinder). Casting for Cable continues, with Man of Steel star Michael Shannon said to be the front runner.
