Production company A Bigger Boat has optioned the rights to Throttle, a novella from Stephen King and his son Joe Hill, with THR reporting that producer Emile Gladstone has tapped John Scott III (Maggie) to pen the script for a big screen adaptation.
Originally published in 2009 as part of a Richard Matheson tribute and inspired by Matheson’s short story Duel, Throttle follows a motorcycle gang who are pursued across the Nevada desert by a faceless trucker hell-bent on revenge after a deal goes bad. Their battle is fought out on twenty miles of the most lonely road in the country, a place where the only thing worse than not knowing what you’re up against, is slowing down
Several King projects are on the horizon for this year, including It, The Dark Tower and Gerald’s Game, along with a shared universe TV series entitled Castle Rock. Meanwhile Hill also feature adaptations of The Fireman and his upcoming novella Snapshot in development.
