Nickelodeon reviving Invader Zim for TV movie

April 7, 2017 by Gary Collinson

Invader Zim is set to become the latest revival over at Nickelodeon, with the critically acclaimed cult animated series set for a feature-length TV movie, which will reunite original cast members Richard Horvitz (Zim), Rikki Simons (GIR), Andy Berman (Dib), and Melissa Fahn (Gaz) along with creator Jhonen Vasquez.

The show aired for two seasons between 2001 and 2002, although it was cancelled by Nickelodeon midway through season two, with the final episodes not airing until 2006. The show follows the titular Zim, an extraterrestrial determined to conquer and enslave the Earth.

Invader Zim is the third cartoon to receive a revival by Nickelodeon, with Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie set to air later this year, and a Rocko’s Modern Life special also on the horizon.
