Variety is reporting that Margot Robbie is in talks to join Saoirse Ronan in Focus Features and Working Title’s Mary Queen of Scots, which is being directed by Josie Rourke from a script by House of Cards creator Beau Willimon.
The film is based upon John Guy’s book The True Life of Mary Stuart, and will see Ronan portraying Mary alongside Robbie as Queen Elizabeth I. Apparently the project is yet to officially receive the green light, but is hoping to get the go ahead to begin production later in the year.
Australian actress Robbie has several projects on the horizon, including the Tonya Harding biopic I, Tonya, thriller Terminal, A.A. Milne biopic Goodbye Christopher Robin, the live-action CG-hybrid Peter Rabbit, Robin Hood reimagining Marian and Suicide Squad spinoff Gotham City Sirens.
