According to The Hollywood Reporter, Doug LIman (The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) is in talks to direct the upcoming video game adaptation Splinter Cell, which has Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises, Locke) attached in the lead role of black ops agent Sam Fisher. Liman will also produce with regular partner David Bartis, while the script has been written by Eric Singer (American Hustle).
Launching in 2002 with Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell, the popular stealth video game has spawned five sequels, shifting over 23 million units, as well as a series of tie-in novels. It is one of several Ubisoft projects in development, with movie versions of Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs, Rabbids, Far Cry and another Tom Clancy title Ghost Recon all in the works.
