For the first time since its release in 1977, George Lucas’ Star Wars no longer sits in the top ten of the all-time highest-grossing domestic movie releases, with Disney’s Beauty and the Beast surpassing the $461 million haul of A New Hope to climb to tenth place.

1. Star Wars: The Force Awakens – $936.6 million
2. Avatar – $760.5 million
3. Titanic – $658.6 million
4. Jurassic World – $652.2 million
5. Marvel’s The Avengers – $623.3 million
6. The Dark Knight – $534.8 million
7. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – $532.1 million
8. Finding Dory – $486.3 million
9. Star Wars: The Phantom Menace – $474.5 million
10. Beauty and the Beast – $472.4 million
Given that it is the 40th anniversary of Star Wars this year, it’s always possible that the original film could receive a re-release to push it back into the top ten. And of course, adjusted for inflation it is still way out ahead of all of the movies in the list above with $1.574 billion – second only to Gone with the Wind on $1.786 billion.
