Star Trek: Discovery gets five new cast additions

As we await word on a premiere date, CBS has announced five new additions to the cast of Star Trek: Discovery, the upcoming TV series set ten years prior to the events of Star Trek: The Original Series.

Shazad Latif (Penny Dreadful) is set to play Starfleet officer Lieutenant Tyler, Rekha Sharma (The 100) will portray the Discovery’s security officer Commander Mitchell, and Kenneth Mitchell (Frequency), Clare McConnell (Dim the Fluorescents) and Damon Runyan (Suits) have been cast as the Klingons Kol, Dennas and Ujilli.

The new additions join Sonequa Martin-Green (Lieutenant Commander Michael Burnham) are Jason Isaacs (Captain Lorca), Michelle Yeoh (Captain Georgiou), Chris Obi (T’Kuvma), Doug Jones (Saru), James Frain (Sarek), Terry Serpico (Anderson), Maulik Pancholy (Nambue), Anthony Rapp (Stamets), Mary Wiseman (Tilly), Mary Chieffo (L-Rell) and Rainn Wilson (Harry Mudd).
