It doesn’t appear that Modern Family is going anywhere any time soon, as ABC have unsurprisingly decided to renew their top rated comedy for seasons nine and 10.
The show has picked up five Emmy’s during its run so far, and it is yet unclear if season 10 will be the series’ swansong.
With 44 more episodes now on the way, co-creator and co-showrunner Steve Levitan said the following in a statement:
“We are beyond thrilled that we get to spend more time with these characters, these amazing actors, our ridiculously talented writers and our incredible crew — all of whom are like family to us. And the good kind of family, not the kind that argues with you all the time,”
The Hollywood Reporter’s sources claim that each of the show’s stars have managed to bag a raise in order to return for more episodes.
President of ABC Entertainment, Channing Dungey, has said, “Modern Family has been the centerpiece of our comedy brand for eight seasons and we are thrilled to have it on our schedule for two more years,”
The renewal for the show would have come sooner if it were not for a fight between ABC and 20th TV over costs of production.
