American Gods renewed for second season by Starz

May 12, 2017 by Ricky Church

Its only been on the air for two weeks, but it seems that has been enough Starz long to decide on the future of American Gods as the network has renewed the series for a second season which will air next year.

“Bryan Fuller, Michael Green and Neil Gaiman have evolved the art form of television narratively, structurally and graphically with American Gods,” said Carmi Zlotnik, Starz’s president of programming. “We’re thrilled to be working again with these artists as they continue to build the worlds and wars of the gods.”

“American Gods has been a ground-breaking series born out of belief and it’s thrilling to be partnered with Starz to continue this ambitious story. Neil Gaiman, Bryan Fuller and Michael Green have ignited a conversation through cinematic magic, presented through a diverse ensemble of actors that continue to keep us engaged and inspired,” added Craig Cegielski, Co-CEO of FremantleMedia North America.

Upon meeting the mysterious Mr. Wednesday, he becomes the enigmatic man’s bodyguard, but quickly learns of a secret war brewing between the Gods of old mythology and the New Gods of today: money, technology and media. As Shadow travels across the country with Mr. Wednesday, he learns his employer is one an old Norse god recruiting help for the coming war before they slowly die off.

American Gods will air its next episode, ‘Head Full of Snow’, on Sunday, May 14.
