Variety is reporting that Shawn Levy has signed on to direct The Fall, a sci-fi action movie from Amblin Entertainment, which is based on a script by Pete Bridges. Levy will also produce through his 21 Laps banner, as well as rewriting the screenplay.
The Fall follows a newly divorcedcouple during an alien invasion making a dangerous trip from the city to their house in the suburbs where their children are stranded. Secrets and details of a marriage gone bad are unearthed along the way.
Levy hasn’t directed a film since 2014’s Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, although he has helmed episodes of Netflix’s Stranger Things, and has been very busy on the producing front, working on the likes of Stranger Things, Why Him? and Fist Fight. His upcoming producing credits include The Darkest Minds, Uncharted, and a new Sesame Street movie, while he is also attached to direct a remake of Starman.
