Screen Daily is reporting that Viggo Mortensen has signed on to start in the thriller Unabomb, which is slated to begin production in January 2018 under director Robert Lorenz (The Trouble with the Curve).
Based on Jim Freeman, Terry Turchie and Donald Max Noel’s book Unabomber, the film will see Mortensen as FBI agent Jim Freeman, who takes on the unsolved case of the Unabomber – responsible for 16 bombings over the course of two decades – and travels the country piecing together a profile of the terrorist. However, the closer they get to tracking him down, the more deadly and personal the attacks become.
Unabomb is being financed by IM Global, and is being introduced to buyers at Cannes. More castings are expected shortly.
