Joel Edgerton to direct and star in Boy Erased alongside Lucas Hedges

June 9, 2017 by Gary Collinson

A distributor bidding war is currently underway for Boy Erased, the second directorial effort from Joel Edgerton, which will see him starring alongside Lucas Hedges (Manchester By the Sea).

Based upon Garrard Conley’s 2016 memoir, Boy Erased tells of his time attending Love in Action, a brutal Twelve-Step conversion therapy porgamme designed to ‘deprogram’ LGBT people. However, rather than emerging as heterosexual, Conley left with the strength to embrace his true identity.

Deadline is also reporting that Russell Crowe and Nicole Kidman are also wanted for supporting roles in the film, which is slated to begin production in the fall.
