…Riding high on the wave of overwhelmingly positive reviews [read ours here, here, here, here and here], Warner Bros.’ Wonder Woman defied early tracking projections to open with $223 million worldwide last weekend, including a domestic haul of $100.5 million, meaning that director Patty Jenkins became the first female filmmaker to enjoy a $100 million plus opening weekend (she’d already become the first female filmmaker to direct a movie with a budget of $100 million or more). The film is expected to comfortably see off competition from The Mummy this weekend and will likely end up in excess of $400 million worldwide by close of play today…
…Wonder Woman producer Zack Snyder shared his thoughts on the movie as well as revealing his cameo in the film, while Patty Jenkins revealed that the No Man’s Land sequence where Gal Gadot’s Amazon Princess makes her grand entrance almost didn’t make it into the movie. Jenkins also discussed the reshoots, stating that she only added a single scene, and said she hopes to have the original Wonder Woman Lynda Carter make a cameo appearance in the sequel (which is yet to be officially announced, but looks to be a sure thing at this point). Gal Gadot and Marvel star Chris Hemsworth debated on Twitter as to who would win in a fight between Wonder Woman and Thor, while Diamond and Icon Heroes unveiled their Wonder Woman movie collectibles [check them out here]. …While Patty Jenkins is yet to officially sign on the dotted line for Wonder Woman 2, the director has also revealed this week that she wouldn’t mind trying her hand at a Superman movie…

…Turning back to the DCEU now and it’s been rumoured that the Joss Whedon-directed reshoots for Justice League are now underway, and could last as long as three months. Take this with a pinch of salt, but Batman-on-Film is describing them as “significant” and that the movie “is gong to be changed tremendously after this new round of filming.” Meanwhile, Wonder Woman star Robin Wright has confirmed she’ll make an appearance in Justice League, reprising the role of General Antiope alongside Connie Neilsen’s Queen Hippolyta, while Mattel has also unveiled its line of Justice League action figures, which you can see here…
…It’s been reported this week that Warner Bros. is looking to Batgirl and Justice League Dark as the next two DC Films to enter production after Aquaman, which would presumably mean they’d hit cinemas at some point in 2019 (and speaking of Batgirl, Baywatch star Priyanka Chopra has thrown her hat in the ring for the part, describing a superhero role as her dream). And in other DCEU news, Suicide Squad star Joel Kinnaman has also suggested that he believes the sequel to the supervillain ensemble will shoot at some point in 2018…
…Moving on to the small screen and you can read Martin Carr’s review of the Gotham season three finale ‘Destiny Calling’ and ‘Heavydirtysoul’ here, while we also have details on the premiere dates for the new seasons of Supergirl, The Flash, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Arrow. Meanwhile, it has also been announced that Tala Ashe has joined the cast of Legends as a series regular, and will portray the character of Zari Adrianna Tomaz, a.k.a. Isis (can’t see them keeping that name…), while production on the live-action Teen Titan series Titans is reportedly set to begin this September…
