Next year’s Avengers: Infinity War and its as-yet-untitled sequel are set to serve as the culmination of everything we’ve seen from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date, with Marvel suggesting we’ll be seeing a very different landscape in Phase Four as the focus shifts from some of the original Avengers towards the more recent additions to the MCU.
Speaking to Joblo, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige has confirmed that Infinity War will mark the “final chapter” for certain characters, although he refused to confirm or deny whether this would include Chris Evans’ Captain America and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, instead deflecting the question by responding that: “We have another two years of hard work to even finish these movies, and they [the actors] have a lot of hard work to do, so thats all we’re thinking about, is completing those and delivering on the promise of those. Where it goes beyond that, we’ll see.”
Marvel has come in for some criticism in recent years for refusing to kill off any of its major characters, but it seems that could be about to change when Earth’s Mightiest Heroes go up against Thanos. That being said, it’s also possible that characters could survive and simply hang up their capes until a new threat (and a new contract) comes calling.

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos.
